What are the opportunities open to our democracy, and the threats it faces? The political scientists making up the Democracy Team are researchers who often speak out publicly to elucidate this topic.
They appear regularly in various media and give presentations in the form or lectures and workshops and at festivals. In addition, they initiate a variety of activities themselves, for example writing blogs and maintaining a website with data on populism within 250 political parties. They have also produced “Democracy Games”, a game with which children can learn what democracy actually is. The Democracy Team’s target groups are very varied, ranging from primary-school pupils and students to politicians, policymakers, civil servants, and the general public. The researchers strive to spread information about democracy in order to keep alive vital discussion of our form of government.
The grant from the Rewarded! Fund will be used to set up an attractive science communication project, such as an activity for primary schools in cooperation with the university’s Science Hub.
